About the firm
Barossa Accounting & Tax Services was established in 1980 by Barry Swan, a (then) young accountant with a vision to bring city quality services to the country. At that time, most accounting services in the area were provided by firms that “went back to Adelaide” at the end of the day.
Dean Hoklas became a partner of the firm in 1996. Dean’s early working life in a winery and growing up ‘on the land’ has been invaluable in developing Practice growth in providing services and advice to the wine and viticulture industries.
Also through his early association as Treasurer of the Tanunda Lutheran School has seen the Practice provide audit and other services to numerous Lutheran Schools in the Barossa and Adelaide areas.
In 2008 Nicholas Schuster became the third partner in the firm, after moving to the Barossa with his young family from Broken Hill in 2003. Nick focuses on providing services to hospitality, winery and service based businesses, as well as individual taxation services. Nick also provides the financial planning services to Barossa Accounting and Tax clientele.
Today Barry, Dean and Nick are supported by an energetic and professional team including Accountants, Angela Sonntag (CA), Jonathon Gerhardy (CA), Jordan Krzoska (CPA) and Undergraduate Accountant John Ibrahim.
With over 25 years experience at the firm our bookkeeper Trish Helbig assists many clients with a wide range of issues.
Our administration and secretarial staff of Heather Swan, Cheryl Fewster and Hayley Potter provide invaluable support to attend to the important administrative aspects of our business.
The other important ingredient was the forging of professional support liaisons. We currently enjoy valuable support relationships with with Cashflow Manager, MYOB, Quickbooks (bookkeeping software) and legal firm Mellor Olsson who provide advice on tax/legal issues. Barossa Accounting & Tax Services are also members of the Hayes Knight national accounting network group; a source of highly professional technical support and staff training facilities.
